Government contracting on the go
Selling products or services to state agencies is now a portable affair. A new app allows business owners to access a moveable feast of government contracting opportunities on their smartphones.
The Commonwealth of Virginia recently unveiled a free mobile application for eVA, its electronic procurement system for bid opportunities and solicitations with the state and other public agencies.
Launched on Aug. 14, “eVA Mobile 4 Business” is available for iPhones, Androids and tablets. Virginia is the first state to offer such an app, according to a press release from Gov. Bob McDonnell’s office.
"Success in business today requires real-time, mobile access to business opportunities," McDonnell said in his press statement."The eVA Mobile 4 Business app turns every smartphone into a portal to Virginia's cutting edge e-procurement system.”
To download the app, visit the eVA 4 Business page or the Apple or Android app stores. Users can also access the web version at http://www.eva.virginia.gov/evamobile.
The app was developed by CGI, a Montreal-based provider of information technology and business process services. CGI also has offices throughout the U.S., including 10 in Virginia.
