AARP, SBA hold 'mentor day' today in Richmond

To encourage entrepreneurship over the age of 50, AARP and the U.S. Small Business Administration are hosting a mentoring event from 10 a.m. to noon today, Oct. 2, at the Retail Merchants Association conference room,  5101 Monument Ave., in Richmond,

Current and aspiring small business owners, who are pursuing post-retirement careers as entrepreneurs, will meet successful business owners and community leaders.

The event, along with dozens of others throughout the U.S., marks the first National Encore Entrepreneur Mentor Day, organized by a partnership between the SBA and AARP..

“AARP is pleased to be working with SBA on this important initiative to help older Virginians get practical information and guidance on starting and growing small businesses,” said AARP Virginia State Director Bill Kallio. “Our work with SBA is part of AARP’s Work Reimagined program to help middle-class Americans reach their ‘what’s next’ moments in work and career.”
