Norfolk small biz workshop teaches financial literacy

We’ve all heard of reading between the lines, but reading between the numbers? Indeed, all small business owners should master the skill of gleaning small-but-crucial details from their financial documents.

Learn how at “Reading Between the Numbers,” a workshop scheduled for 8 a.m. June 14 at the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce, 500 E. Main St. in Norfolk.

Part of the chamber’s Business Education Series, the two-hour event explains how to analyze balance sheets, cash-flow statements, P&L reports and other financial paperwork.

Nicole Wood-Sabo of McPhilips, Roberts & Deans, a Norfolk accounting firm, will lead the workshop. Wood-Sabo specializes in accounting, tax and business advisory services for medical and dental practices.

The workshop, which begins with a 7:45 a.m. networking period, is $15 for chamber members and $45 for nonmembers. For more information, or to register, visit the chamber’s website.
